From followers to customers

Let’s be honest—getting a "like" on a photo is a nice little ego boost, but it doesn’t exactly pay the electric bill. We see it all the time: businesses with thousands of followers who are struggling to get people through the door, and businesses with 200 followers who are absolutely booked out.

The difference? One is "posting for the sake of it," and the other is converting.

Turning a stranger on the internet into a loyal customer isn't about luck or some secret algorithm hack. it’s about understanding the journey a person takes from seeing your brand for the first time to actually handing over their hard-earned money.

It starts with "Awareness" (The Window Shop)

Think of social media like a busy high street. People are walking past, busy with their own lives. Your high-end photography and punchy Reels are your shop window. Their job isn’t to sell the whole business in five seconds; their job is just to make the person stop walking and look.

At this stage, you aren't asking for a sale. You’re just showing your personality and your expertise. If you try to "sell" too hard in every single post, people will keep walking. You want them to think, "Oh, that looks interesting," and hit that follow button.

Moving to "Consideration" (The Chat)

Once they follow you, they’ve stepped inside the shop. Now they’re looking around. This is where your Stories and your Captions do the heavy lifting. This is the "trust-building" phase.

In Oxfordshire, where word-of-mouth is so powerful, this stage is vital. Use this time to answer the questions they’re thinking but haven't asked yet. Show testimonials from local clients. Show the "behind the scenes" of how you work. If you’re a dentist, show how you calm nervous patients. If you’re a creative, show the process behind a design. You’re proving that you know your stuff and that you’re a safe pair of hands.

The "Conversion" (The Handshake)

This is where most people drop the ball. They do all the hard work of being interesting and trustworthy, but they never actually tell the customer what to do next.

A follower isn't a mind reader. If you want them to book a consultation, buy a product, or visit your office in Oxford, you have to tell them—clearly and simply. We call this the Call to Action (CTA).

Instead of a vague "Get in touch," try something specific: "We’ve got two slots left for Content Days in March—click the link in our bio to grab one." Or, "Download our free guide to local SEO to see where your business is missing out."

Why consistency is the "secret sauce"

You might post something brilliant today, but if that customer isn't ready to buy today, they’ll forget you by tomorrow. Conversion often happens on the 7th or 8th time someone sees your brand.

This is why we bang on about being consistent. You need to stay at the top of their mind so that when the day comes that they actually need your service, you are the only name that pops into their head. It’s not about being loud; it’s about being present.

Making it "frictionless"

The final step is making it as easy as possible for them to say yes. If someone decides they want to work with you, but they have to spend five minutes hunting for an email address or filling out a 20-field form, you’re going to lose them.

Check your links. Make sure your website is mobile-friendly. Ensure that the "Contact Us" button is bright, bold, and easy to find. The fewer clicks it takes to get from your Instagram profile to a confirmed booking, the higher your conversion rate will be.
